Clinical Support
Merwin IV & Specialty Pharmacy utilizes many resources to meet the needs of its patients. Our New Brighton location is open 24/7. Pharmacists are available 24/7 for consultation and questions. In addition, we utilize highly trained IV nurses who can provide a breadth of IV services. Those services include:
- Standard IV training.
- Customized IV training.
- Phone consultations around IV starts, support and care.
- On-site IV starts and assistance.
- Clinical monitoring of laboratory test results.

Elastomeric IV Homepumps
Merwin IV & Specialty Pharmacy utilizes elastomeric homepumps to simplify IV therapy. Elastomeric homepumps have many advantages over traditional IV pumps. Some of those advantages include:
- They are simple and easy to use. This reduces teaching and training time.
- There are no concerns about electrical and other malfunction warnings.
- Homepumps require less storage space at the facility.
- They are disposable and require no cleaning or maintenance.
- Fewer supplies required.
Care Description
Our 797 clean room and our experience enables us to provide a variety of services:
- Hydration Therapy. During hydration therapy we monitor progress, conduct routine follow ups and ensure that the patient has appropriate supplies. We also follow lab results as needed.
- Antibiotics and other anti-infective medications. During this therapy we check for allergies, monitor progress, conduct routine follow ups and monitor labs. We ensure that appropriate supplies are available to maintain a successful therapy.
- TPN. When Merwin follows a patient who requires a TPN, we monitor several items.
We check for proper nutrition, check lab results and ensure approriate supplies are available. - Pain Management. We provide pump training, monitor for side effects, conduct routine follow ups and ensure that a patient's pain levels are appropriately controlled.
- Transfusions. We coordinate resources required to perform transfusions including nursing services, blood products and lab testing.
- Hospice. Hospice care is provided. Contact the pharmacy for additional details.

Our pharmacy serves the greater Twin Cities area; from Duluth to Faribault.
